Norwegian oil giant Statoil has evacuated staff after a leak was detected at its Mongstad production facility.

The incident was reported to its emergency centre at 7.14am this morning and parts of the plant have been shut down.

The firm confirmed the leak has now been stopped and the cause of the incident is being investigated.

It said in a statement: “All the 108 people at the plant have been accounted for and no injuries have been reported.”
