New partnership rewards low carbon trucks with blockchain incentive

Energi Mine and Electra Commercial Vehicles aim to encourage a shift to low carbon freight transport

A blockchain platform business has partnered with a company that converts existing freight vehicles to run on electricity.

Energi Mine and Electra Commercial Vehicles aim to encourage a shift to low carbon trucks and vans by incentivising energy saving behaviour using EnergiTokens (ETK).

The partnership’s rewards programme aims to scale-up conversions of ‘dirty’ heavy goods vehicles to zero-emission electric vehicles (EVs) able to operate within urban environments by providing its blockchain platform to those working to green their transport operations.

The blockchain rewards platform will issue digital coins that can be saved up by the organisation used for things such as buying low carbon energy or implementing efficiency measures.

Sid Sadique, Chairman of Electra Commercial Vehicles, said: “By replacing dirty heavy goods vehicles with zero emission EVs, we will see significant improvement to air and noise quality in urban areas.

“Through this partnership with Energi Mine, we aim to increase the pace of change by financially rewarding that change. The companies we work with are already very excited about the rewards programme being part of the change programme.”
