Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) has won an order to supply two wind farms with turbines in South Africa.
It will provide a total of 109 turbines for the 140MW Kangas and 110MW Perdekraal East wind farms – which will together supply enough electricity to 214,000 homes.
It will start the supply of turbines to Irish developer Mainstream Renewable Power in early 2019 – the wind farms are scheduled for completion in 2020.
The projects were granted contracts in the government’s electricity capacity auction.
