Eden Project considers new location in Lancashire

It would focus on the connection with the environment in the Morecambe Bay

The Eden Project is considering opening a second location in Lancashire.

Following a feasibility study being carried out, the Cornish biodiversity attraction could be replicated in the coastal resort of Morecambe.

The company behind it is now looking for funding and support to develop the regeneration project and tourist attraction.

Simon Bellamy, Head of Eden Project International, said the organisation aimed to “re-imagine what the 21st century seaside resort could look like”.

He added: “The Eden Project in Cornwall is about the connection with plants, this is about the connection with this wonderful environment here in Morecambe, the bay.”

The original Eden Project opened near St Austell in Cornwall in 2001, attracting more than a million visitors last year.
