Nearly 85% of children are ‘concerned about air pollution’

Nearly half of parents don’t feel confident that they can understand what they can do to help fight against air pollution

Almost 85% of primary school-aged children and eight-in-ten parents worry about air pollution.

That’s according to a new report by the gas and electricity supplier E.ON, which suggests almost half of parents feel they lack an understanding of what they can do to help against air pollution.

On a more positive note, however, the research of 2,000 respondents shows that nearly 94% of kids would like to help reduce the levels of air pollution, with eight-in-ten children believing they have the power to change the world.

Michael Lewis, E.ON UK Chief Executive Officer, said: “Air pollution in our communities is something that we can’t always detect, but we know that children are exposed to it on a daily basis, whether that be on their journey to and from school or running around the playground.”

A recent report suggests that air pollution in 41% of British schools exceeds the World Health Organization’s limits.
