Nearly half of UK households to ‘cut energy use during gas price crisis’

The energy crisis has made 24% of billpayers start considering switching to a ‘greener’ energy supplier, according to new research

The gas price crisis is hitting the UK households as almost half of them plan to reduce their energy consumption in the coming months.

New research by comparison website Energy Helpline suggests cutting down the energy they use is a priority for 47%.

The survey of 1,000 people also found that nearly 40% of billpayers said the energy crisis made them prioritise buying more energy-efficient products.

In addition, a further 24% wanted to switch to a ‘greener’ supplier during the period of soaring energy prices, the study suggests.

The rise in wholesale electricity prices came as a result of soaring gas prices.

In recent weeks, that forced many suppliers to go under.
