ScottishPower launches its ‘biggest ever’ recruitment drive

The company will recruit 1,000 people for its green energy projects

ScottishPower has launched what it claims to be the company’s biggest recruitment drive, with at least 1,000 new jobs to be filled in the next 12 months.

The announcement follows a record number of green energy infrastructure projects secured by the company in the first half of 2022.

These include three new offshore wind farms which were awarded seabed rights in the recent ScotWind auction, onshore wind and solar projects and other onshore transmission plans.

Keith Anderson, Chief Executive Officer of ScottishPower, said: “We now need at least 1,000 people to join us in new positions over the next twelve months to design, build and operate this green energy infrastructure and that’s why today, we’re issuing our biggest ever call for green recruits right across the country to fulfil our ambitions.”

Commenting on the company’s announcement, COP26 President Alok Sharma said: “Long-term, good quality green jobs are crucial for the UK’s economic recovery and tackling climate change. This green jobs push will help set the direction for the market as we transition to a high skill, low carbon economy.”
