Energy company Vattenfall has signed a £2.5 million onshore cable installation scope deal for Norfolk Offshore Wind Zone.

Engineering firm J. Murphy & Sons will be responsible for early onshore works of the project, including site investigations and design optimisation activities such as topology surveys.

The design optimisation work is expected to provide certainty in construction requirements to allow more efficient and sustainable delivery of the project.

In February, the government awarded planning consent for Vattenfall‘s Norfolk Vanguard Offshore wind farm.

The decision followed the consent of the 1.8GW Norfolk Boreas Offshore Wind Farm.

Together, the projects are predicted to produce enough electricity to power the equivalent of 3.9 million homes every year.
