Giant turbines heading to Highlands?

Fred. Olsen Renewables unveils plans for a 22-turbine project delivering 158MW

Turbines reaching up to 230m in height are planned for the Scottish Highlands as part of a project by Fred. Olsen Renewables.

It wants to develop the Invercassley Wind Farm, a 22-turbine project located 5km northwest of Rosehall, Sutherland.

Once built it aims to generate 158MW of clean electricity and have a 30MW battery storage capacity.

The project also includes a community benefit fund exceeding £25 million, index-linked, to support local initiatives over the farm’s lifetime.

Fred. Olsen Renewables says it will show they can not only deliver sustainable energy but also create significant benefits for the local community – to that end they want local feedback.

The first consultation events are scheduled for 24th and 25th February.
