Unicorn Systems is strengthening its position in the European energy market via its successful cooperative expansion with the Greek transmission system operator ADMIE. Unicorn integrated the Damas MMS:E Balancing system as part of this project, enabling the client to connect to the pan-European Picasso balancing platform. This move will not only help ADMIE meet its legislative obligations but also reduce its system balancing costs, which should positively impact electricity prices for end customers.
ADMIE, also known as IPTO (Independent Power Transmission Operator), was looking for a reliable and efficient system to connect to the Picasso platform, which is used to coordinate frequency balancing in transmission systems internationally.
In line with the European Roadmap for Connection and agreements with neighbouring countries such as Bulgaria, Greece was committed to making this connection by 2026.
Unicorn delivered a solution based on the standard Damas MMS:E Balancing product, allowing data from the local balancing system (supplied by GE) to be transformed into the format required by the Picasso platform and then transmitted.
“On March 18, the production connection to the Picasso platform was successfully completed. Thanks to the dedicated support of our SLS team, the entire Go-Live process was executed within the given timeframe and without any major issues. Due to the outstanding efforts of our collaborators, we can add another positive reference for the deployment of the latest version of Damas MMS:E abroad,” says Jaroslav Pešek, Sales Manager at ADMIE.
Benefits of Damas MMS:E Balancing
Damas MMS:E Balancing is our newest product, specifically designed to meet the needs of Transmission System Operators (TSOs). Pre-configured connectors for European platforms such as Picasso, MARI, and ACER enable fast and seamless integration with local systems. It offers 24/7 operation, high security, and resilience to outages.
Its standardised architecture ensures quick deployment and compatibility with various technologies. The intuitive user interface simplifies system management and monitoring. The solution is scalable and future-ready. The project also included the delivery of on-premise infrastructure for two data centres in Athens, ensuring full control over operations and data security.
