Balancing and Settlement Code
Elexon has updated the Balancing and Settlement Code to allow smaller, non-BSC Party generators to receive payments for providing system restoration services
The consultation builds on previous responses and decisions regarding Elexon’s ownership
Elexon will remain in industry ownership, with shares to be transferred to 13 licensed Balancing and Settlement Code (BSC) funding parties

The move has been driven by a number of cost efficiencies and savings made by the company, which administers the Balancing and Settlement Code
This includes six modifications to BSC rules and six Change Proposals, which amend BSC subsidiary documents
It contains multiple references to EU legislation and bodies, however, retaining them if the UK leaves the EU without a deal will mean it is no longer technically accurate
That’s the call from National Grid Energy System Operator (ESO), which says this should be updated as soon as possible
