Railways to use Hydrogen fuel cells

UK railways could soon start using a new range of efficient fuel cell technologies across the rail network. The Hymera fuel cell generator, one of the products approved for use by Network Rail, produces energy by combining hydrogen and oxygen from the air to form electricity and water, creating zero emissions. BOC, a member of […]

UK industry welcomes Government’s CCS competition relaunch

The UK industry has welcomed DECC’s carbon capture competition following “very clear” sets of guidelines this time around. The original Carbon Capture Storage (CCS) project was cancelled last year due to complaints from energy companies. National Grid told ELN of their interest in the competition as the study on CCS now is “more viable” in […]

BOC joins Drax and Alstom CCS project

Industrial gases group BOC is taking a hand in Drax’s and Alstom’s oxy-fired carbon capture and storage (CCS) project, according to reports. The oxy-fired process burns fuel with gas that has a higher concentration of oxygen than air. BOC will provide the air separation technology at Drax’s 426 MW coal fired power station in Yorkshire.

BOC joins Alstom and Drax on CCS project
