The facility will take PET – the main material used for food and drinks packaging such as plastic bottles and certain food packaging – and convert it into raw materials for new food-grade packaging, without any waste

The £7m plant is expected to treat up to 35 tonnes of unrecyclable plastics a day and create a local source of hydrogen

The hydrogen produced could be used to power buses and heavy goods vehicles, before being rolled out to fuel cars
