SIMEC Atlantis
The 500kW project has been developed by Scottish firm Simec Atlantis Energy and boasts a rotor diameter of 18 metres
Funding will be used for the development of company’s 80MW subsea hub in the Pentland Firth off Northern Scotland and will allow 40 tidal turbines to be connected to a single power export cable
The acquisition will see it take over 100% of the hydropower developer
SIMEC Atlantis’ two-year project is expected to start in January 2019
