ScottishPower has announced it will reduce its standard domestic gas prices by 5.4%.

The price cut will come into effect from 15th March and is expected to benefit more than one million customers.

The Big Six supplier claims they will see a reduction of £32 on their annual gas bills.

It follows recent gas price cuts announced by rivals E.ON and SSE.

Neil Clitheroe, ScottishPower’s CEO of Retail and Generation, said: “Over the past year, we have tried to always offer our customers competitively priced dual fuel tariffs. This has encouraged more of our customers to switch between tariffs with now close to one in two on fixed price products. This is one of the highest proportions of fixed price customers of the major suppliers.”

Last month Ofgem’s CEO said energy companies are overcharging customers.
