Innovative businesses and researchers are being invited to bid for a share of a £9 million fund to address challenges facing the energy industry.

Innovate UK has launched the fourth round of the Energy Catalyst funding competition, which aims to help businesses progress their innovations to commercial readiness.

Proposed projects should three major challenges: low carbon, security of supply and affordability.

There will be awards for three stages which includes technical feasibility, technology development and pre-commercial technology validation.

Innovate UK stated: “We encourage proposals which bring innovative new solutions into the energy sector and its supply chain. We also want to encourage cross-cutting and enabling technologies which can apply across a range of sectors. For example, high-value manufacturing, advanced materials, sensors and information and communication technologies (ICT).”
