A £3.1million contract to put a heat network in Euston, London has been dished out by Camden Council to energy firm Vital Energi.

The Somers Town Heat Network will include 0.5km of district heating and a new energy centre to power four residential blocks in King’s Cross.

It will also export electricity to the new Francis Crick medical research institute which is due for completion in 2015/16.

Rob Callaghan, Vital Energi’s Regional Director for London and the South said: “We have already seen Camden Council establish themselves as one of the leaders of sustainable energy and their achievements with projects like King’s Cross show what councils can achieve when they successfully place sustainability at the heart of their energy strategy.”
