UK power and gas prices opened a “touch lower” this morning, according to npower’s daily market report.

The gas system is still well supplied and the linepack is forecast to close 6mcm long.

Exports via the UK Interconnector remain at around 40mcm.

Langeled flows are at 55mcm whilst LNG is at 50mcm as flows from South Hook have reduced by 6mcm.

Sarah Astley from npower’s Optimisation Desk said: “The biggest change from yesterday is that Holford is not withdrawing; however the Aldbrough storage site continues to supply 8mcm.”

On the power system, the peak margin is forecast below 9GW.

Wind is generating above 2GW.

Ms Astley added: “The French interconnector was due to come back from maintenance today however a failure has been reported and so it is now not expected back to full capacity until Monday.”

Oil is currently trading above $50 per barrel.
