Anti-wind campaigners will gather at the House of Commons today for the launch of a new national body to oppose wind farms called National Opposition to Windfarms (NOW). The meeting will be hosted by Lib Dem peer Lord Carlile, according to reports.

The NOW group says its aim is to tackle policy in favour of wind power, while its website list of concerns includes: the impact wind turbines have on landscape and wildlife, the unreliability of wind as an energy source, the amount of subsidy the wind sector gets, as well as the need for extra grid infrastructure.

It appears to be part of a co-ordinated effort by lobbyists who seem to have organised a ‘ National Parliamentary Lobby’ yesterday, with supporters of the anti-wind cause apparently instructed by email to go to Westminster en masse to petition their MPs against wind power on Wednesday.
