India’s capital city, Delhi has seen power demand reach a season’s high, as it climbed up to 5,925MW last week.
Indian power utility Tata Power Delhi Distribution (Tata Power-DDL) is said to have met the peak power demand of 1,713MW last week, without any outages.
Delhi is currently witnessing a heatwave with temperatures expected to reach 46°C in the coming days, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), which has announced a red alert to prepare services providers and government agencies, as demand could increase.
Tata Power-DDL is currently prepared to cater to an additional demand of up to 2,500MW and is looking to improve networks and ensure continuous supply to its areas of distribution.
