British Gas takes over customers of failed suppliers PfP Energy and MoneyPlus Energy

Ofgem has appointed British Gas to take on supplying nearly 96,600 customers of the two companies that closed down last week

Ofgem has appointed British Gas to take on customers of PfP Energy and MoneyPlus Energy, the two suppliers that went bust last week.

That means the company will start supplying PfP Energy’s approximately 87,600 domestic and non-domestic customers and MoneyPlus Energy’s approximately 9,000 domestic customers.

Outstanding credit balances, including money owed to customers of both failed suppliers will be honoured, the energy regulator said.

In the following days, customers of PfP Energy and MoneyPlus Energy will receive all the needed details about the changes.

Neil Lawrence, Ofgem’s Director of Retail, said: “I am pleased to announce we have appointed British Gas for the customers of PfP Energy, and MoneyPlus Energy. Their energy supply will continue as normal, and customer credit balances will be honoured.

“Once the transfer has been completed, customers can shop around for a better deal if they wish to.”
