Duke Energy restores supply to 368,000 homes in thunderstorm-hit Carolinas

Repair efforts are underway to reinstate electricity to all 500,000 affected homes

Duke Energy has restored power to customers in North and South Carolina, after a thunderstorm damaged power infrastructure and caused outages in several areas.

As many as 500,000 households lost power – this has now been restored in 368,000 homes.

The firm has also announced preventive measures in light of Covid-19 – customers have been requested to maintain social distancing and avoid approaching a crew member, in addition to following the standard safety protocols.
