Joanna Coleman

Energy Transition Manager at Shell UK  

Jo’s early career working in Shell saw roles in oil and gas field development, national energy planning and business development in the Far East and Middle East. In 2011 Jo joined the Energy Technologies Institute, a public-private partnership accelerating technology development and demonstration to support the UK’s energy transition. Jo led the ETI’s modellers and sector experts exploring energy transition pathways and the opportunities and challenges in delivering them. Jo returned to Shell in 2018 as Energy Transition Manager where she leads Shell’s energy transition strategy in the UK with the objective of aligning our business strategies and plans to reduce our UK emissions in line with the UK’s targets. Jo was awarded an OBE in 2018 and is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the IMechE.

Rhiannon Mulherin

Commercial and Industrial Director at Shell Energy

Rhiannon moved from Australia to the UK to pursue a PhD in solar energy, then worked for the Department of Energy & Climate Change before making the jump over to Shell in 2013. She started in what was then Future Energy Technologies, acting as a commercial lead on low carbon venture capital deals. In 2014 when Shell began to look into restarting its renewable energy business Rhiannon co-wrote the Wind business plan and re-entry strategy. For the next 5 years Rhiannon’s various roles encompass company and project M&A, power market & renewable investment fundamentals and decarbonisation pathways. Since 2019 Rhiannon has been leading on Shell’s re-entry into UK large B2B power supply and is currently pulling together our integrated customer interface for decarbonisation solutions.
