We are currently seeking a passionate, positive Managing Consultant to join our growing team.

The Role

ESG is steadily climbing up the Boardroom agenda for large organisations and this role is pivotal in supporting our customers to set, and take action against, ambitious energy reduction targets.

As a Managing Consultant (Carbon and Environment) you will oversee the technical standard of a team (“pod”) that delivers high quality Net Zero action plans and reporting services to our customers with the aim of not only meeting reporting obligations but carrying that forward to maximise their positive carbon and wider environmental impact in the world. Inspiring your team to achieve greatness together, and to wow our customers with advice and support they can trust, you will turn the outputs of the team into a story that successfully influences our customers to amplify their impact. To achieve success in the role you will need to have excellent communication and story-telling skills, as well as the ability to inspire trust, develop an exceptional team and think creatively to solve our customers’ challenges.

As part of this role, you will cover the following:

Service delivery:

  • Working with the Service Delivery team, set objectives that ensure we provide an excellent service against the agreed plan

  • Review your pod’s progress against customer/project objectives and keep your pod members focused on maximising impact in line with agreed objectives

  • Oversee the output of your team to meet and exceed customer expectations

  • Present your team’s outputs to our customers in a way that tells a story to inspire them to continue on to greater action

  • Map and present customer ‘pathways’ to achieving Net Zero across a broad range of operations

  • Engage with supply chains to access supporting information and increase the reach of our impact

  • Conduct life cycle analyses of various products, services and events

  • Coordinate a programme of SECR deliverables

  • Oversee the management of our SME customers’ experience of using our membership scheme, the Net Zero Club, working with our in-house software development team to keep it fit for purpose

  • Analysing data to identify patterns and trends, relationships between resource use and GHG emissions in relation to Net Zero targets, including formal Science Based Targets

  • Advising on waste minimisation

  • Identifying ‘environmental aspects and impacts’ towards setting-up or refreshing customers’ approach to environmental management

  • Collecting a range of environmental and related cost data

Customer service:

  • Support your pod members to identify opportunities for increasing the impact we can have for our customers’ organisations, contributing to our growth targets

  • Contribute to account plans to ensure that customer relationship managers have a full picture of the relationship with our customers across all service areas

  • Working with the customer relationship managers, ensure all customer relationships are nurtured and valued

Leadership and line management:

  • Line manage the members of your pod to support them in developing into independent and competent consultants who inspire trust in our customers and other members of the team

  • Set ambitious development goals and map development pathways for the members of your pod

  • Work with the Principal Consultant in your pod to ensure that consultants have an adequate technical training plan to meet our service delivery needs

  • Monitor resource requirements for your pod based on recurring and forecast revenue, ensuring that you have adequate resource and capacity to achieve project/customer objectives

  • Participate in recruiting additional pod members as the pod grows

​Experience & Qualifications required

  • Degree or equivalent in a related subject or adequate sector experience in a carbon/sustainability related role

  • Creating and presenting Net Zero and/or Environmental action plans

  • Experience of inspiring change using data to tell a story

  • Engaging with supply chains

  • Experience of delivering a programme of SECR work is desirable

  • Ability to present to board level

  • Competent in Excel with great numeracy skills

  • Ability to see the big picture and take ownership of customer and pod objectives

  • Excellent communication skills that allow you to build relationships that educate, engage and inspire people to take action (confident presentation skills)

  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing requirements

  • ​Salary of £46,800 – £55,000 (dependent on experience)

  • Pension Scheme (matched 5% contribution)
