Planning permission granted for Somerset solar farm

BayWa r.e. and Grüne Energien secure planning for Yanel Farm Solar project, set to power 14,000 UK homes

In collaboration with Grüne Energien, BayWa r.e. has recently received planning consent for the Yanel Farm Solar project in Somerset, England.

Situated north of Sandford on land at Yanel Farm, the proposed solar farm is expected to generate over 40MW of energy annually.

This capacity could potentially cater to the electricity needs of approximately 14,000 UK households per year.

Aside from its energy generation capabilities, the project aims to enhance local biodiversity.

Plans include the creation of biodiverse grassland areas and the planting of native hedgerows to support wildlife habitats.

Moreover, the site will continue to serve agricultural purposes, with provisions made for sheep grazing between the solar panels.
