A new type of farm is making an appearance in South Africa – and it doesn’t involve wine.

The Northern Cape, a South African province renowned for its vineyards, will be home to a new 86 megawatt photovoltaic solar farm.

The deal led by solar energy developer Sonnedix will see work begin on the farm in the first quarter of this year.

The project was chosen by the Department of Energy of South Africa under the third bidding window of its Renewable Energy Procurement Program.
