A landowner has been ordered to pay more than £5,000 in fines for illegal waste wood in Bicester, Oxfordshire.

According to the court, Mr Gordon Jones accumulated an “extensive amount” of waste wood at his agricultural holding called ‘Field Farm’ site.

The Environment Agency received reports of waste wood deposit and storage in 2013.

It stated environment officers visited the site and recorded the storage of a large amount of waste wood, pellets and shredded wood on the south side of the land.

Jack Knight, Environment Officer said: “Waste crime such as this puts the environment at risk from fire. We offered advice to Mr. Jones on a number of occasions with regards to him removing the waste wood during our site visits.”
