The UK gas system is undersupplied.

The linepack is forecast to close 9mcm short, according to the daily market report from npower.

Flows through the Langeled and Aldbrough pipelines are close to capacity but the Rough storage is not nominating any volume.

Alex Guiot from the Optimisation Desk said: “This follows news around an extension to maintenance into the summer delivery period due to a feasibility study. There are no other significant changes in the gas system, South Hook and St Fergus are slightly down on yesterday’s close.”

On the power system, the peak margin is forecast to be around 12GW.

Wind is expected to be below 1GW today.

CCGT generation is providing 47% of the energy mix and coal and nuclear around 12% and 21% respectively.

Mr Guiot added: “The power system is also supported by healthy supplies from the French and Dutch interconnectors.”

Brent oil is trading at $39.59/bbl (£27.3/bbl).
