Macquarie Group announces £500m green loan

It will support eligible projects including renewable energy and energy efficiency

The Big Zero report

Macquarie has announced it is issuing a £500 million loan for green projects.

It is part of a wider £2 billion loan and will support projects focused on renewable energy, energy efficiency, waste management and clean transportation.

The announcement comes as investor appetite has increased for green loans as governments and businesses across the world seek to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and meet climate targets.

It follows the Australian bank’s acquisition of the UK’s Green Investment Bank last year.
