Recycling could be the new way of giving to charity.
That’s because of a new partnership between Greenredeem – a recycling rewards company and consumer giant Unilever.
The scheme called Project Sunlight encourages Greenredeem members to earn points by recycling products on the website.
To kick start the venture, it is encouraging people to donate their points earned through their recycling efforts to Comic Relief.
The project aims to help reach the EU’s 50% recycling target by 2020.
Unilever Project Sunlight Marketing Manager, Anna Owen said: “It’s shocking how far the UK lags behind other nations and we see incentivising positive action as a key mechanic to move rates forward, to meet and hopefully smash 2020 target levels.
“We hope that through the partnership we can educate our consumers that they can recycle more Unilever product packaging than they may realise.”
