Danish turbine manufacturer Vestas has signed an agreement with EDF Renewable Energy to provide 1GW of wind turbines.
It comes as the two companies close the books on their previous so-called master supply agreement, which represented orders totalling 1,094MW.
Chris Brown, President of Vestas’ sales and service division in the US and Canada said: “EDF RE is one of the most successful renewable energy developers in the North American market and this new agreement opens the door to our next gigawatt of continued collaboration in 2015 and beyond.”
Vestas is to supply 150MW of turbines – the final order from the previous agreement – in the third quarter of 2016.
EDF’s renewable arm has installed 2.2GW of wind, solar, biogas and biomass projects in the US so far.
