Lynne Featherstone has been chosen as the Liberal Democrat’s new spokesperson for energy and climate change.

The former MP for Hornsey and Wood Green was given the role by new leader Tim Farron and is one of many appointments made today.

Ms Featherstone was the Minister of State for Crime Prevention at the Home Office from November 2014 until May 2015 and was the Parliamentary under Secretary of State for International Development previously.

The new environment and rural affairs role was given to Baroness Kate Parminter.

Mr Farron said: “The team I am announcing today is the Liberal voice that Britain desperately needs.

“Together, we will take our ideas, our values and our liberal messages to every corner of Britain. We will make the case for housing, immigration, Europe, environmentalism and human rights.”
