An inquiry exploring what type of disruptive technologies and innovation could transform the future energy industry has been launched.

The Energy and Climate Change Committee is seeking views on which innovations have the greatest potential to revolutionise energy markets and why.

It aims to look at the ideas and shortlist a few to look at in more detail.

The Committee is also accepting video submissions using the hashtag #NewEnergyTech.

It stated: “This is an opportunity for you to tell us and even to show us, the innovations that could transform the energy sector. Your enthusiasm and visions for an ‘Energy Revolution’ will help shape the direction of the Committee’s work.”

The deadline for submissions is 3rd May 2016.

Yesterday the Committee questioned the head of EDF Energy about the Hinkley nuclear project.
