Co-operative Energy has appointed a new CEO.

The rapidly expanding supplier want David Bird to help strengthen its management capabilities as its customer base swells upwards of 400,000 households.

Mr Bird will move from E.ON, where he’s the Managing Director of the company’s UK Residential and Metering arm.

Since starting his career at M&S, he has gained wide business experience in a number of different industries including National Express, Vodafone, Homebase and BUPA.

He has also been a Non-Executive Commissioner at the Independent Police Complaints Commission and a Non-Executive Director at Frimley Park Foundation NHS Trust.

Ben Reid, Group Chief Executive of Midcounties Co-operative, which Co-operative Energy is part of, said: “We are very pleased to have been able to attract such a high-calibre industry expert such as David Bird to this new post.

“He brings with him a wealth of energy industry experience and we are convinced that his values align closely with those of Co-operative Energy. We are confident that with David at the helm, Co-operative Energy will go from strength to strength.”
