If your business is producing waste cardboard and it enters bins for disposal, then it’s almost certain that your business will benefit from installing a cardboard baler.

It’s not very often that you pay less and get a better product and a better solution but with a cardboard baler this is actually the case.

To put it simply, a cardboard baler will do four things for you that bins cannot.

  1. Lower your waste costs
  2. Save space on site
  3. Save time on cardboard waste handling
  4. Improve your green credentials

You can also guarantee yourself a quality product, which costs less than the common recycling bin.

So how can a baler do all these things?

A baler enables businesses to remove their cardboard bins. Bins are simply not cut out for disposing of cardboard due to the volume of the material and the fact bins aren’t very big. What this means is, bins become full very quickly and so they need emptying regularly. These empties are undertaken by waste management companies who charge the same amount per lift if the bin is full or not. A half full bin collection is nothing but a waste of money as you are essentially paying to dispose of air.

With these bins gone, the collection costs disappear. You will only pay for the rental or purchase of the cardboard baler. Recyclers will collect the cardboard bales for free more often than not as they are valuable commodities for those who prefer waste to be baled rather than loose.

Cardboard balers have a small footprint, which is equal to one 1,100-litre bin. With cardboard being a voluminous waste type, normally more than one bin or one very large bin is required. One baler will handle all cardboard so space becomes available and it looks better on the public eye.

A cardboard baler can also be kept inside or outside depending on where most of the waste cardboard is sourced. Locating a baler next to the waste source means staff have a short walk to dispose the cardboard and as balers can handle whole boxes, there is absolutely no requirement to flat-pack any cardboard. Bins are normally seen outside in a dedicated waste area, away from the work space. This requires a longer walk and in order to exploit space in bins, flat-packing is virtually a necessity. These both equal time. Much more time can be devoted to the job itself if the burden of waste handling is taken away by a cardboard baler.

Lastly the green credentials of any business can be improved significantly with a cardboard baler. All cardboard waste can be recycled after baling. Bins containing loose cardboard get emptied into a high emission truck and sent away to landfill. Sending cardboard to landfill is unnecessary and your business pays the price with high collections costs that will rise every year due to a yearly rise in landfill tax. Health and safety inspectors would much rather see cardboard being recycled, as would customers and the general public.

The benefits of having a cardboard baler in your business are very strong and should be highly considered if you are currently using bins to contain waste cardboard.
