The two 2.5MW turbines will be built on the Airfield Industrial Estate, near Eye by green energy experts Wind direct and local entrepreneur Roy Humphrey.
The turbines will supply Mr Humphrey’s nearby car and van dealership and will generate sufficient green energy to power the equivalent of 2,800 homes and could save more than 7,000 tons of carbon per year. Any excess power will be sold back to the national grid
Back in 2007 Suffolk Council stated it wanted to be the greenest and has since put in measures to make it easier for green energy projects to flourish.
Carl Humphrey, from the Roy Humphrey Group said “Even through the car industry is regarded as potentially a high carbon emitter, we all have a contribution to make. This not only provides us with the green credentials needed in today’s business environment, but makes our business more sustainable as a whole”.
