It’s been a tremendous couple of years for Energy Live News and as I have said before this sector has no end of tales to tell. But as you will see from today’s story about smart meters there’s been a theme running through so much of what we have done, trust.

That’s the theme of our inaugural conference, Energy Live 2012.  We are finalising the line up but have already got four of the bosses of the big 6 energy suppliers and the top level of Government ready to explain to you what they are doing to win back your trust. Day in we get emails from businesses and individuals who feel they are being taken for granted. Over charged on bills, burdened by legislation, taxed without reason and simply not given enough information about the impact of policy and prices.

Why do we still find prices going up when we are all being squeezed and wholesale prices are starting to tumble? Today SSE are back in the news for upping domestic bills again. It’s fair to say the others may well follow, they always seem to. Small and medium sized businesses also ask us why they are often ignored in the melee of voices that get heard when it comes to service and price concerns. That’s why our first conference on November 1st at the  Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre is so important for us.

We’re not interested in just putting on a conference like so many in this sector, we are interested in putting together something that holds people to account, that provides the answers, that makes the sector listen. That’s why we have the top energy bosses ready to tell you what they will do to regain your belief. That’s why you will be able to ask the law makers what help they’ll be able to give you as you navigate your way through the endless red tape and taxes we face.

Over the next two months we will be bringing you exclusive interviews from the key speakers at our conference and what they say they will do to make your lives better. We believe the issue of trust will be the main focus for the next year – do we trust the politicians to set the right policy framework as we change the market, do we trust the suppliers to do right by business, do we trust the brokers to find us the right deal and do we trust ourselves to help UK plc build a better energy future.

Join us at Energy Live 2012 and I trust you will get the answers…..
