Have you made a New Year resolution yet? Why not make it a ‘green’ one? A business electricity provider is urging people to become more environmentally friendly this New Year.

Green Energy UK suggests switching the drive to the nearby supermarket for a walk or a bike ride and boiling just the right amount needed for that morning tea or coffee to cut energy usage.

Doug Stewart, CEO of the firm said: “This year, why not green-up the traditional resolution to help make 2013 as eco-friendly as possible?.. Even the smallest changes can make the biggest difference.

“For example, insulating your loft to at least 10 inches can save you over £100 per year on bills – and is also handy for keeping the heat in during these bitter winter months. You can have fun exploring other ways of going green too… Whilst you’re busy welcoming in 2013 by singing Auld Lang Syne, make sure you also have a think about how you will resolve to go green this year.”
