The UK gas system is 20 mcm oversupplied, according to npower’s daily market report.

The Dutch interconnector is nominated at 17mcm however it is currently flowing higher. Flows through the Norwegian pipeline [Langeled] have also increased to 16mcm.

Gemma Bruce from npower’s optimisation desk said: “They are not expected to move out of the 12-16mcm range until the end of the Ormen Lange [gas field] outage on the 2nd of July.”

LNG send out has dropped – however two tankers are confirmed to arrive this week so more movement is expected as July approaches.

The peak margin for power is comfortable at 14GW this is due to imports from the continent being at full capacity.

Gas-fired generation is still dominant and CCGT demand is at 35mcm.

Wind generation is expected to peak at 3GW today before dropping tomorrow. Current output is currently falling short of forecasts.

Brent oil has increased to $63 a barrel (£39.73/Bbl). Ms Bruce said this is due to “domestic US oil production continuing to post impressive numbers at just under 10m barrels a day”.
