DONG Energy plans to build an offshore wind hub at a marine energy park in North Lincolnshire.

The Danish company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Able Marine Energy Park (AMEP).

AMEP aims to serve as a major hub for the UK’s offshore renewable sector and has so far received £50 million of investment.

Siemens has also planned on building a turbine factory in the Humber region.

Local Growth Minister James Wharton said: “This agreement will help the UK supply chain develop in key areas like towers manufacturing and ensure the UK remain market leaders in this sector.

“As part of our long term economic plan we’re determined to back businesses in the Humber and the government’s £15 million infrastructure funding is helping kick-start development at the site that will help create 4,000 new jobs for local people.”
