The construction of a nuclear archive has started in the UK.

The NDA (Nuclear Decommissioning Authority) Archive, located in Wick, will collect and store records from all the civil nuclear sites in the country.

It will be accessible to the sector for international research and to the public.

The NDA will be responsible for ensuring that all the information is available in line with legislation on public information.

Morrison Construction will develop the facility which is estimated to be completed by the end of 2016.

Rob Higgins, NDA’s Business Services Director said: “Records Management like all the other work done across our estate is subject to regulation and scrutiny to make sure we look after all our records safely and securely and retrievable in the best possible condition. Consolidating all of our archived records in Wick will ensure best information management practices and better value for money.”
