An energy company in canada has been issued licences to import and export natural gas.

The National Energy Board of Canada approved Pieridae Energy’s application last week.

The natural gas imported from the US and supplied from Canadian sources will be processed at the proposed Goldboro liquified natural gas (LNG) facility.

The company will also export LNG for delivery to Europe and other countries.

Both the import and export licences are valid for 20 years. The maximum annual capacity of export is 16.7 billion cubic meters and import  is 11.9 billion cubic meters.

Alfred Sorensen, President and CEO of Pieridae said: “We’re happy to have achieved another significant milestone for the Goldboro LNG development.

“We will continue to work with the National Energy Board and project regulators as we advance this project.”
