The UK gas system is more than 19mcm oversupplied, according to npower’s daily market report.

Langeled flows are at 54mcm and those from the Netherlands through the BBL pipeline are at 12mcm.

South Hook LNG storage send-out is at 37mcm.

Sam Hill from the Optimisation Desk said: “Rough storage withdrawals and nominations are at zero. Centrica has extended Rough natural gas essential maintenance, this started early this morning and is likely to continue through to Thursday morning.”

Exports through the UK Interconnector are at 21mcm.

On the power system, the peak margin is at 15GW and wind is generating 5GW providing almost 15% of the energy mix.

CCGT generation is at 16GW, contributing 42% of the mix and the French and Dutch interconnectors are importing at full capacity.

Brent oil is currently trading at $41.6/bbl (£29.1/bbl).

Mr Hill added: “The gains seen in the oil markets have held. This, the biggest jump seen in the last couple of months, was due to US inventories reducing for the first time in seven weeks. This momentum has continued with more US drillers idling more rigs ahead of the OPEC discussions in Doha on the 17th of April.”
