An additional £10 million is being offered to innovative businesses and research organisations that can address the energy trilemma.

It is part of Innovate UK’s Energy Catalyst competition.

The proposed projects should address the three major challenges facing the energy industry: low carbon, security of supply and affordability.

The funding being provided is in addition to up to £6m already committed by the Department for International Development and up to £3m from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council.

The extra cash is available for early-stage award, i.e. technical feasibility and applicants must register before noon on 7th September 2016.

Total eligible costs could be up to £300,000 and the project must last no longer than 12 months.
