Workers at state-owned Brazilian firm Eletrobras have reportedly launched a three-day strike.

They are protesting against plans to privatise part of the company, according to reports.

Eletrobras has an installed capacity of 42GW in Brazil. That’s 34% of the nation needs.

In a statement, the firm said it would respect workers’ rights to strike however added they should reflect about the company’s crisis after years of massive losses.

Reports claim the government hopes asset sales will boost efficiency and cut operational losses.
