UK contractor Carillion has been awarded the contract to supply the onshore cable for a 402MW wind project located off eastern England.
The Dudgeon Offshore wind farm, a joint venture between Statoil, Statkraft and Masdar, will generate enough electricity to power more than 400,000 homes every year.
Carillion will design, supply and install 288 kilometres of the cable, stretching from Weybourne to Necton in Norfolk.
It will connect the subsea cable that will take power from the offshore wind turbines to a new National Grid substation.
The onshore cabling project will start later this year and is scheduled to be commissioned in 2016.
