The UK gas system is expected to close 5mcm short.
That’s due to a reduction in flows from Aldborough, according to the daily market report from npower.
Sam Hill from the Optimisation Desk said: “There is also the continued shutdown at the Heimdal riser in the North Sea on processing problems. Gas forecast demand is in line with seasonal normal levels for today.”
On the power system, demand is expected to reach 33.5GW today.
Solar generation is forecast to peak around 1.3GW and wind 2.2GW while nuclear is providing 24% of the energy mix and CCGT is contributing 56% of the stack.
The French and Dutch interconnectors are importing near full capacity.
Brent oil is trading at $49.68/bbl (£37.7/bbl).
Mr Hill added: “Brent has come very close to trading $50/bbl (£38/bbl) this morning, pushing up even though Saudi Arabia has signaled it could hit record oil output levels ahead of the OPEC talks in Algiers. That comes after a data release indicated that US crude stock inventories unexpectedly fell, giving new legs to the Brent rally in afternoon trading yesterday.”
