UK offers £10m to bring green energy to Africa and South Asia

Projects must address the World Energy Council’s ‘Energy Trilemma’: cost, emissions and security of supply

Businesses can apply for a share of up to £10 million to help bring clean, affordable and secure energy to sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia.

The funding from Innovate UK will support energy innovations across all technologies and sectors to help address the global need for reliable energy.

Organisations must address the World Energy Council’s ‘Energy Trilemma’: reducing prices to make energy accessible for everyone, generating cleaner energy with lower emissions to protect the environment and putting reliable infrastructure in place to keep energy flowing without disruption or shortage.

The competition offers funding for projects in different stages of development – feasibility studies, research and development and technologies ready to proceed with prototyping and pilot testing.

It opens on 20th August and deadline for applications is 14th November 2018.
