It can’t have escaped your notice that Nepal has been devastated by two earthquakes.

The charities are out there helping feed and clothe people. Medical supplies are on their way as is emergency shelters, tents and sleeping bags.

But what people need more than anything is power. Power to heat and light homes, cook food, power to go about daily life and bring clean water to parched mouths. Power for hospitals and schools and communications.

Our Chief Reporter Priyanka Shrestha is Nepalese. Her family thankfully are all safe but they, like every other family, have been affected by the scale of the disaster.

At ELN we want to make a difference and help Pri – so today I’m supporting her Re-Energise Nepal campaign.

Pri’s father is a Captain in the British Gurkhas and is currently based in Nepal. He is helping her co-ordinate the supply of much needed solar lamps and generators as well as other materials to help rebuild villages and towns.

Now we need your help energy sector.

If you want to donate money that’s great and it will be allocated to help provide infrastructure materials.

But ELN would like to ask you to give something even more tangible. Do you have LED lamps, solar lamps, solar panels, mobile generators, cables and transformers to donate? Can you help with providing inverters or mobile chargers?

We want whatever you can do to help and we want your expertise.

So if you are willing to volunteer to go over to Nepal or simply be on the phone to give much needed information and advice please get in touch.

ELN will be running an on-going campaign and our initial target is £20,000 of help in equipment and donations. So please help us in a cause close to our heart.

So get involved. Go to Pri’s campaign page or email her – [email protected]

ELN wants you to show the energy sector can make decent headlines because we know the great people who are out there working in it.

So please help us Re-energise Nepal.
