The gas system has opened undersupplied, according to npower’s daily market report.

Both Norwegian and Dutch flows are lower than yesterday.

Gemma Bruce from npower’s optimisation desk: “This combined with demand levels above seasonal normal has resulted in the linepack currently forecast to close 17mcm short.”

Maintenance on the Interconnector pipeline is due to end on the 25th June.

 

Wind forecasts have been revised lower overnight with load factors at around 10% for most of this week.

This coincides with lower solar forecasts down towards 3GW by the end of this week.

Both the French and Dutch interconnectors continue to import into the UK at full capacity. Ms Bruce added: “This is helping to ensure reasonably comfortable power margins.”

Greece presented a new budget proposal to euro zone leaders yesterday. Ms Bruce went on: “It has been seen as a positive step forward with the aim to have the Eurogroup finance ministers approve a cash for reform programme.”

The pound continues to gain against the euro.
